As the year draws to a close and with the festive season among us, the pmConnections team have been keen to get together and give something back to our local communities. In the midst of the cost-of-living crisis and with fuel and energy costs surging, many of us across the nation have been struggling this year – and it only felt right to help out where we could!
So, what have the pmConnections team been up to?
Raising funds for charity
As is tradition here, instead of sending out Christmas cards – we use the money that we would have spent and donate it to charities that mean a lot to us. Each year our newest employees choose the charities that we’ll be donating to, which means this year, the responsibility fell to Igor Hobot and Neil Edwards!
Igor’s choice – Macmillan Delamere Support & Information Centre at Halton General Hospital
“I selected this charity as it means a great deal to me, and I hope they can continue making a positive difference to people’s lives. The services that they provide for people struggling with the effects of a cancer diagnosis are phenomenal and are so crucially needed. Macmillan Delamere Support provides a variety of support options for people living with cancer, ranging from emotional support services to face-to-face and telephone counselling, to welfare rights advice and even holistic therapies such as Reiki and Aromatherapy. It feels really special to be supporting a charity that means so much to many people and helps them through some of the most difficult times in their lives.”
Neil’s choice – Claire House Hospice
“Claire House Hospice is a really noble cause that helps seriously and terminally ill children make the most of the time they have, however long or short that may be. The work they do is incredibly touching, and the staff and volunteers there work incredibly hard, 24 hours a day and 7 days a week. I’m really grateful to have been able to share our donations this year with the charity, and hope they are able to continue their fantastic work for a long time to come.”
Spreading Christmas Cheer…
This year, Belinda and Marie have also been kind enough to collect toys and festive donations for The Salvation Army’s ‘Christmas Present Appeal’. The initiative seeks to give presents to children who may otherwise not be receiving any gifts this year. Due to the cost-of-living crisis, there are thought to be thousands of families across the country who are having to cut back on Christmas celebrations this year, due to having to prioritise utility bills and putting food on the table. “It’s a lovely feeling to know that young children will open our donations on Christmas Day and that our gifts may play a small part in brightening their Christmas,” says Belinda Long, our Operations & Service Delivery Manager.
We’d like to say a huge thank you to all of our team members for their contributions, hard work and festive cheer over the last couple of weeks – and we wish everyone a great festive season with their loved ones.
