Confused about what you need to do if you're selling machinery in the UK?
February 28, 2023
Selling machinery in the UK is often a complex and overwhelming process. With seemingly endless legislative requirements to adhere to and pitfalls to avoid – it’s easy to get confused.
But, with the help of pm Connections, the process can be made so much easier.
Having 18 years of experience in the machinery industry, we’re here to help you navigate the legal requirements that come with putting your machinery into the UK marketplace.
Here’s what to check before you put machinery up for sale:
Is it UKCA / CE Marked?
These marks indicate that your equipment has been tested and certified to meet the relevant British and European health & safety regulations. Failing to have the appropriate marking can make it illegal to sell your machinery in the UK.
Is it PUWER Compliant?
The Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations (PUWER), 1998, ensure that all work equipment is suitable for its intended use and is maintained in a safe condition.
Has it had a risk assessment?
You’ll need to make sure that all of your machinery has been adequately risk-assessed and that it is safe for use. Have controls such as safety guards and emergency stop buttons been assessed thoroughly? Have potential and residual risks been evaluated?
At pm Connections, we can help you achieve and maintain compliance with the Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC and the Supply of Machinery (Safety) Regulations, 2008 – so that you’re able to supply and sell machinery, stress-free!
