Safe Systems of Work Implementation
Safe Systems of Work Implementation
Here at pm Connections, we can help to implement comprehensive and robust Safe Systems of Work (SSOW) processes in order to protect your workforce from unnecessary risks to their health whilst at work.
What is an SSOW?
A Safe System of Work template (SSOW) is a structured process, designed in collaboration with health and safety experts, to identify the safest method of carrying out a job – by eliminating or minimising potential hazards and risks.
Under the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations Act of 1999 – as employers, you are legally required to assess the safety of your employees at work, and control and minimise potential risks to their welfare.
Implementing Safe Systems of Work templates is an extremely powerful way of protecting your workforce from unnecessary risks and ensuring that your workplace is safe.
How can pm Connections help?
We create and implement comprehensive Safe Systems of Work templates to help you ensure you’re fulfilling your legal obligations as an employer and keeping your workforce safe. To do this, we are able to use a number of comprehensive frameworks…
RAMS – Risk Assessment Method Statements
RAMS are created following a risk assessment within a workplace. Once hazards have been identified, they must then be analysed to determine if they present a risk and whether or not they are likely to cause harm. This analysis should be compiled into a RAMS document to provide employers and contractors with a step-by-step safe working guide. At pm Connections, we are able to carry out and compile Risk Assessment Method Statements for your business, ensuring you are fulfilling your legal obligations as an employer.
PTW – Permit To Work Systems
PTW Systems are formal documented systems that are used to control any high-risk, nonstandardized activities. A permit authorises specific staff members to carry out high-risk work, providing that procedures detailed within the permit are followed. They are likely to be required within the construction and manufacturing industries – where employees may have to work under certain high-risk conditions. A PTW system involves a bespoke systematic process, which is designed to identify, communicate, mitigate and control risk within hazardous zones or in high-risk activities such as: working at height, working with asbestos, working within confined spaces, hot works or electrical system works.
What are the benefits of Safe Systems of Work templates?
