Principal Contractor (PC)
The Principal Contractor is responsible for the safety of everyone in the CDM project area. pmC is an accredited practice, well versed in the relevant Construction (Design and Management) regulations, with many years’ experience in providing this important role.
How do we do it?
We are a company that the client can trust to deliver a project safely and on time. Our Site Managers bring a great deal of experience from a number of industry backgrounds and site settings; working in your best interests from planning and initial site setup through to project closedown and handover. The necessary skills that we bring include NEBOSH, First Aid, Appointed Person, Temporary Works Coordinator and Fire Awareness. We work hard to keep these skills up to date.
Our PC service offering includes supplying all site welfare facilities, signage and project cabins needed to ensure the project remains compliant.
Why use pmC?
Clients come back to us time after time to manage their projects, acting as Principal Contractor. This demonstrates an enormous amount of trust that the job will be managed professionally and safely. Our approach to contractor management has impressed clients; with a level-headed and pragmatic way of working, ensuring that contractors understand what is expected and why. Our skilled team of fully-employed professionals means that we have resource contingency built in and can also provide additional cover, when required for specialist requirements or extra-busy periods.
The operation of being a Principal Contractor also relies on the great back office support that we have at pmC, covering resourcing and procurement.
“The pmC team have been excellent on site and their approach to managing contractors (including a large number of foreign workers) has been very proactive, rather than just saying “No”. To add to that, we have had no accidents – an achievement considering the complexity of the project.”
